This is another Costco purchase that exceeded expectations. Delightfully creamy, thick, and a distinct milk chocolate flavor, this milk earned every one of its 5 stars. Although not in a glass bottle (a tell tale sign you are in for a good glass), this is a nice portion of a quality product.

If you are looking for a pre-packaged chocolate milk option that you can buy in bulk, look no further. Costco offers a surprisingly quality chocolate milk in a box. Although lacking slightly in creaminess and flavor, this chocolate milk earned a 3.5 stars for its overall good taste. The straw can be problematic and the last few sips can be hard to get. This milk I believe can also frequently be purchased at Peets or Startbucks Coffee establishments.

I had to find a stock image because I could not bring my self every buy another bottle of this disgrace to chocolate milk. TruMoo is TRUley the worst of the worst in the chocolate milk world. It is as thin as water, bland as water, and tastes like mud. I am posting this more as a warning than an actual review. I have not had TruMoo in over a year, and never plan again.

Darigold is a solid chocolate milk options if you don’t have a readily available whole milk or glass bottle option available. Despite not being explicitly whole (I suspect 2%) the chocolate milk delivers a surprisingly sharp chocolate flavor that is lovely to sip on. This brand is fairly common, and a good option if you are every having to pick between this, Nesquik (will be reviewed in a later post), and truemoo (truley the worst of the worst). This solid option is always a safe bet.

This was a special find. Upon purchasing a Krispy Kreme donut I was delighted to see glass bottles of chocolate milk. Glass bottles are typically a tell tale sign of quality. Although a small quantity, the milk its self was rich, creamy and chocolaty, a perfect partner to a chocolaty donut. 5/5 starts and do recommend Rosa Brothers Milk, those brothers know how to make it right.

I have never been a fan of Clover Chocolate Milk. I have always thought it was dull, lacking any real chocolate or milk kick to it, but when I saw they were specifically advertising whole chocolate milk, I thought I would give them another try. This second chance did not change my mind in the slightest. Although the whole milk gave it a thick, creamy texture, this chocolate milk does not carry anything resembling a distinct and delicious chocolate flavor, and leaves a bad aftertaste. For this reason, combine with the very low shelf life of just 12 days after purchase, I give this Clover Whole Chocolate Milk a low 2 stars. It is no Yoohoo, but it is almost as terrible.

It seems wildly unfair to begin this blog with what I would consider the cream of the crop when it comes to chocolatey milk, but it is what I am drinking at the moment. Trader Joes sells a fantastic whole milk chocolate milk. It is rich, creamy, and well balanced in terms of chocolate to milk ratio. Any carton using whole milk is going to be a good carton, that is one of the first principles of chocolate milk, and Trader Joes has done just that. Although not a fancy glass bottled luxury poor, this earns a rare 5 star rating because it is right up there with the best of them, and a perfect daily drinker. 5/5 stars and highly recommend.
